I would like to begin by showing a video which demonstrates the risks I take every time I write a post for my blog. Blogging is no joke. It should only be attempted by those who are not afraid of living on the edge, and those who are willing to put themselves in compromising positions in order to deliver the best in ideas(?) to their readership. Please take this earnest video seriously!
Anyways, today I feel listy… Here is a short list to tell you what I am enjoying most about my Maui experience.
I love…
going to bed before 9 and waking up just before 7,
taking naps in the middle of day in my warm shack (sleeping is awesome!),
enjoying plants whose names I cant remember,
walking sideways on the beach when the water pulls the sand towards the sea,
looking out at the vast ocean,
being engulfed in water,
eating fruit from the tree,
sitting by the sea as dusk slowly dims my world,
not feeling stressed out by anything,
feeling content,
listening to the rain fall like thunder,
being shown a large toad under a rock,
meeting new people,
observing my skin change color as if I were a chameleon,
going on adventures!Yesterday I went to watch a baseball game in downtown Hana with my fellow wwoofers. It was a great opportunity to see the local community in action. Hana has the largest percentage of native Hawaiians on the island, and this is where they come out to play. Next to the field there were some women with Honda CRV’s selling food out of their hatches. I treated myself to 6 pieces of deliciously marinated chicken with two perfect scoops of white rice and sweet corn. All outfitted in polar white styrofoam. Sitting on some elevated rocks next to the baseball diamond I ate my delicious chicken. Life is good.
Lately I have been watching many videos on the TED website. This is because I eat alone for most of my meals, and I am of the stimulation generation. However, I have been learning alot from these videos. For example, I recently learnt that in the early 1980’s there was no extra chunky pasta sauce in the supermarket, and that 33% of Americans wanted it… With that said I do not wish to share a video of such wonder at this moment. My first video is wondrous enough. However, I would like to share a video which talks about emerging markets in Africa and lifting people out of poverty through investment. It is a video that has placed renewed optimism in my heart.
Best wishes from the middle of the pacific to you,
Zach

I do that too! I make myself dinner and I watch http://www.ted.com on my computer while I have my meal…
The picture of the flower is beautiful! It reminds me of the lupins that used to grow on the hill by my house. Maybe if you can’t remember what name a flower usually goes by, you could give it a name for yourself. I’d like to see what you come up with.
I thank you dearly for warning me of the dangers of blogging, perhaps it is time to get off my butt and take serious action for local warming prevention. I want to acknowledge your worries and inform you that I use a desktop and not a laptop computer. Phew!
Happy Pangea day, Zach,
Isaac
