Today was a magical day. I went on an amazing adventure in every sense of the word. I woke up at 6, had a leisurely breakfast consisting of cereal with bananas from the garden and scrambled eggs with Gorgonzola cheese on bagels smothered with peanut butter. I needed something that would fill me with fuel for my escapade. The wind was whistling in my short hair by 7 as I gave the loyal orange steed all I had to give. Here is a picture of the steed lovingly deposited on the side of the road.I rode hard and fast along the most stunning paved road I have ever been fortunate enough to fly down on two tires. The 7 mile stretch of hilly and twisty road lead me through one of the most spectacular jungle environments that I have ever been exposed to. Banana trees, bamboo, waterfalls and prehistoric trees and ferns lined the way. Here is picture to illustrate only a fraction of the beauty that one is able to behold when traveling this road. The reason for this journey was for me to discover the true Hawaii: Oheo Gulch (also known as the 7 sacred pools) and the Bamboo Forest. Here is a picture I took this morning of some of the pools.I arrived at 7:50, before any intrepid car going tourists had shown up on the scene. Yes, the pools were all mine! Let me tell you, to be utterly alone in such a magical place is indescribable. To try and express the feeling in words would be horrendously inadequate. I spent an hour swimming in the pools and hanging out under the numerous waterfalls. Pulling my dripping self away from the pools was surprisingly painless, only because I had another magical site to visit before my ride back. The bamboo forest did not fail to impress. There is a one mile hike from the road until the bamboo forest greets you. The entrance of the forest then leads to another mile of pure paradise as the insides of the bamboo jamboree reveals itself. However, the climax to the hike is a 400 foot waterfall.Lastly, here are a few miscellaneous pictures of my trip today. Oh, to be a cow in Hana. What a life! This one was taken from the side of the road as I rode the steed back to my shack. This stunning scene is only about 1 mile from my present location.Take care and never loose sight of your dreams or your adventurous spirit. These are virtues which make life the best experience this world has to offer.

    Hi Zachary,

The days I live for–what a wonderful phrase. A great statement to always keep close to our heart.

    With deep satisfaction and love,
